I have no idea I don't take meds except the very rare muscle relaxer or pain killer for my cruchy neck. I've been wanting surgery, I'm getting sick of it. People telling me that I might need more surgeries over and over has gotten me a bit confused. Confused on whether they like my suffering actually, because of their own fear of going under the knife. Go with your instincts, ask you doctors everything you need to but keep in mind they might get offended because a lot of them hate people and/or have God complexes, so make sure you stroke their egos along with asking the questions, and always assume they have your best interest in mind. Good luck and be honest with your docs, they are, after all, drug dealers and ghouls, no reason to lie or hide from them.

Fierce is totally on target, dude. Seriously, don't fuck around with this. You can consult with another doctor or two or three but even they won't know your particular medical history like your own will.
Get your ass to your doctor and use that half hour to the fullest extent.

Chemical inbalance is a horrible thing...Either too manic or too depressed...I've had friends and gfs who have suffered from one or the other.
They say meditation/proper diet/no smoking/no drinking/no drugs and exercise make a huge difference.
Since you have the time why not start on some of these that way you won't be so dependent on the meds?
I know of three people that tried it and they hasn't needed any anti-depressants in over a year...They just stopped partying and poisoning their bodies and they rebalanced themselves...Slowly but surely.
Why not try it along with the meds and as you feel better slowly go down on the dosage till you don't need it?

I think you should talk to your doctor about your wishes and fears concerning the medication and your eventual outcome. Pardon my sounding crass, but it seems that you may not fully understand what your doctor is trying to achieve between the depakote and the olanzapine and why they are choosing the course of action they are. It is *imperative* that you understand...so ask questions...lots of them...(why am i taking these medications? what do you hope to achieve by lowering my dose on this other medication? etc). Repeat back what you have learned to make sure you understand correctly and then write it down, or have them write it down.
If you don't like the course of your treatment or if you feel like you don't understand, you need to express those feelings to you doc so you both can explore another avenue of treatment or further your education and role in your treatment plan. Your doctor is there to work FOR you. You've hired your doctor and you can fire your doctor. With this in mind, however, you also have to be willing to work with them in order to achieve the end goal that both of you understand and are working for. You might not understand exactly what your doctor is trying to do, and while it is their job to make sure you get well, it's you're job to be proactive in your own treatment.
There are so many medications out there and other more holistic approaches as well, there's no point in being stuck with something you're not happy with, medications, doctors or other.
Lastly, Camo, please don't seek medical advice from anyone other than a medical professional. Asking those on a message board is dangerous ground, you'll be hit with a slew of stories talking about different side effects etc that may persuade you to make an ill-informed choice regarding your treatment. Unless someone is a doctor themselves (and even then, they most likely do not know your history etc), no one here is qualified to give you medical advice concerning your medications and direction of treatment.

You might tie my hands to the wall but you can't tie my dreams to this place.
We had this conversation a year ago. Check the blogs. Be honest with the doc and tell him about the negative effects of the divalproex. Ask him for the specific reasons that he prescribed this and talk about alternatives.
